Sheridan obviously delighted with result

The latics bounced back in style after a run of four straight league defeats with a resounding 3-0 success at Walsall. Michael Ricketts opened the scoring, Andy Liddell converted a penalty and Craig Davies added the icing to the cake with a late strike. It was just the tonic that the doctor ordered and put paid to the Boundary Park moaners who were just about at breaking point. The win took the Latics off bottom spot and sent them heading in the right direction, finally.

An obviously delighted John Sheridan told Latics World, "Obviously in the position we're in, it's nice to get a clean sheet and we looked pretty solid. Now we've moved up the league a little bit and we need to concentrate on the next game and win that one. We weren't outstanding, but we were steady away from home and looking like a decent team. There were quite a few chances in the game and Walsall had a couple too, but we definitely deserved to win the game and it's always pleasing to keep a clean sheet and score three goals. But the main thing is to get three points no matter how you played."

"We had some good support again, and the fans haven't had much to cheer about recently. It's not nice for anyone when you're bottom of the league. Hopefully we can get a few more wins now and give the fans something else to shout about. If we can show a little bit of consistency and win a few games on the trot we can soon find ourselves climbing the league. All the teams take points off each other in this league, and a few more wins could see us right up there in the bunch."
