Sheridan signs number five

Latics manager John Sheridan has made his fifth new signing by bringing Port Vale midfielder Daniel Whitaker to Boundary Park on a two year deal.

The 27 year old joined Vale from Macclesfield Town in 2006 and made 185 appearances for the Silkmen, scoring 32 goals.

Whitaker made 45 appearances for Vale last year and scored six times.
