John Sheridan has accept the job as Latics manager even though he doesn't have a contract.

Simon Corney said, "We hope a contract will be sorted out and in place well before the start of the new season. We are happy for him to have the opportunity. He deserves a chance and I am sure it will be a popular decision with the fans. They didn't always take to Ronnie Moore's style of play and John has his own ideas. He knows what the fans here are like and all about their expectations. It is a tough job and he knows that, but we have every confidence in him. There was no hesitation when it came to his appointment and I am sure he will be given full backing from the terraces."
