Sheridan was naturally despondent

John Sheridan was naturally despondent at his teams inability to beat Bournemouth. The Latics boss was particularly annoyed at the first half performance of the team.

He said, "We only played for forty-five minutes. You don't win many games when you do that. We were very poor in the first half, and you simply can't afford to give sides a two-goal lead. The second half proves they can do it though, and we did well to get back in the game. We were fortunate to get an early penalty and that gave us a lift. We should have gone on and won the game, although I'd have been happy with a point. It's soul-destroying. The shot at the end could have hit the bar and come back out, but it ended up going in."
