Shez disappointed

A disappointed John Sheridan thought that his team didn't do enough in the home defeat by an average Port Vale team that now top the league. He said, "I'm disappointed with the performance. The tempo wasn't even there. As the home team we should be starting at a much higher tempo than that. If we'd have got the tempo right, then I think the game was there for taking. I'm not having a go at the players, but if you're the home team, you have to take the game to the opposition."

"There's no positives, not really. After Saturday, when we played well against a good, strong team, we didn't start at all tonight. It shouldn't take us until the last 15 minutes to raise our game and put the opposition under pressure. We took the easy option too often, and didn't cause them many problems. If you keep the ball in midfield, the opposition are happy. We need to get behind teams and put them under pressure."
