Shez gets another one over on Moore

John Sheridan got one over on former Latics boss Ronnie Moore as his Athletic team came away from Prenton Park with all three points after a
sterling display. The visitors went ahead in the 35th. minute after Reuben Hazell headed home a Neal Eardley cross. Although the Latics went into the dressing room at half time in the lead, Sheridan was not convinced that his team were playing to the best of their ability.A stern half time talk resulted in the team producing an excellent second-half display in which they could have easily extended their lead.

Sheridan told Latics World, "I'm very pleased with the three points because Tranmere are a good team and this is a very difficult place to come and get anything from. Although we were one-nil up at half time, I wasn't pleased with the lads' performance - in fact I think that was the worst half we've played this season. I told the lads they could play much better than that and I was delighted with the response. We upped our game in the second half, kept the ball well and created lots of chances."

"It's good to see different people scoring. Neal Eardley played a great ball into the box and Reuben got a good connection on it for a great goal. I'm pleased for him and I'm also pleased we kept a clean sheet at the other end. Maybe when the pitch got a little wet one or two of the challenges deserved bookings, but not ten. Players aren't allowed to touch anyone any more. I'll try not to talk too much about the ref and I'll just have to wait and see what happens. That includes myself - I don't know why I got sent off. I was only asking the referee to let the game flow more."
