Shez happy with Bournemouth win

John Sheridan's team defeated Bournemouth by a 2-0 scoreline when a pair of Neal Eardley penalties were enough to see off a struggling Cherries side.

The manager told Latics World, "I thought we played well considering the conditions. We knew what we had to do and we went about it in the right way. We tried our best and played some decent stuff at times. The two penalties were both definite. Neal's put them away well and was unlucky not to get his hat-trick with a fantastic strike from the free kick late on."

"Bournemouth aren't a bad team and have scored a lot of goals away from home so we knew it wouldn't be easy. But we kept them to a minimal amount of chances while creating a few ourselves. The main thing is we've won the game and given ourselves a little bit of hope. I said weeks ago that any side who strings a few results together will find themselves climbing the table. There's a lot to play for, but we need to concentrate on ourselves more than anything else and try to win as many games as possible."
