Shez hopes to bring back Allott

John Sheridan is making an effort to bring back Mark Allott to Boundary Park. Allott is 29 and made 180 appearances for Athletic before he moved to Chesterfield in 2001. The Latics may have to pay a fee to bring back Shez's former team mate, and local boy, as he is not a free agent.

Allott was a striker at Boundary Park and finished the 1999 season as top scores but Sheridan sees him as a midfielder after he has performed well, particularly against Athletic, in that position for the Spireites.

Simon Corney said, "Mark Allott is a player we are interested in, so we've made contact with Chesterfield about the possibility of signing him. There's still some way to go because he has another year left on his contract and there will need to be negotiations between the clubs, but we are hopeful of doing a deal."
