Mark Crossley, Andy Liddell (pictured) and Gary McDonald all have contracts which expire in summer and manager John Sheridan is keen to keep the trio. He told Latics World, "I've made it clear to Mark, Andy and Gary I want to keep them. I hope we can sort something out and I think it's 90 to 95 per cent we can do that. I've got to make some decisions this summer and one or two of them will be harsh, but that's part and parcel of the game."

"People with experience like Mark and Andy are big players around the club. Andy, for example, is always talking to the younger players, people like Deane Smalley and Matt Wolfenden, even when he's been injured. The experienced lads have been around the game for a long time and it can't just be my voice the players hear all the time. It's important the players help each other, and I think the younger lads look up to the experienced ones."

"I want to bring four or five players in and I know which areas I need to strengthen. I've already enquired about one or two and have had a couple of positive responses. But I've got to make sure the decisions I make are the right ones because next season will be a big one. I'll be trying to get things sorted and get us in tip-top shape. If I can keep everyone fit I think we will have a very strong squad."
