Shez not happy with attitude

Latics boss John Sheridan was scathing about his players mental attitude after the disappointing 1-1 draw at home to Leyton Orient. Even though his team extended their unbeaten run to six games he was disappointed with their third consecutive draw. The Latics took the lead through another successful penalty conversion from Andy Liddell but Demetriou equalised by slotting home a second-half penalty miss at the second attempt.

Shez confessed on the official Latics website, "We are throwing away opportunities. We should have beaten Orient at home, although to be fair to them they played well. But we just didn't cause them enough problems. I was happy with the first half but I didn't see the same players in the second. We had a good crowd and a good atmosphere today, but we don't see how to win a game or prevent them coming back into it because we don't have leaders on the pitch. Some of them must really grow up if they want to stay in the team, and I'm not just talking about the younger players."

"We will not be in the play-offs if the players think they can just turn up at the ground and go out and play a nice game. We have got to be winners and get a bit nasty on the pitch if we are to get to where we want to go. I would have taken seven points from the three Christmas games and we can still do that. Three points from the Crewe game is now vital".
