Shez pleased

Latics boss John Sheridan was please to have his first three points in the bag. He told the official website, "Obviously, It's very pleasing for us to get three points against a very good team. I think we were fortunate, but look at the beginning of last season. We were playing well and not getting the rewards we should have. We didn't play well today but we've won the game against a Swansea side that played very well. The main thing is we got the three points and the start we wanted, and we did it with a lot of new faces in the side. I thought Mark Allott and JP Kalala both worked their socks off, while Mark Crossley was confident in what he did. Stuart Giddings and Neil Kilkenny both did well considering they only joined us on Friday."

"I've said to the lads after the game that there were some things I wasn't happy with. But at the end of the day we've beaten a great team who will be there or thereabouts, and winning games while not playing well is not a bad habit to be in. We've got a lot of improving to do, but I believe we've got the right mix of players here once people settle in. The first one was a definite penalty which gave us a great start, and Deane Smalley did really well for the second. He got a great ball into the area for Davies (pictured) to finish, and I've told Craig that he needs to keep getting into those kinds of positions. Michael and Craig both scored again, and hopefully they can carry that forward."
