Latics manager John Sheridan was quick to praise Sean Gregan after his team picked up a point on their travels to Hudderfield last Saturday. The boss had a long talk with the team captain after the dreadful performance at Hartlepool recently and has been impressed with his attitude and performances of late.

He told Latics World, "Sean Gregan has been outstanding for the last four or five games, and that's what you want from your senior players. I had a chat with Greegs after the Hartlepool game and we talked about one or two things. He took that on board and didn't moan, and that's what you like to see. Since that chat he's been our best player. He's my captain, has done well alongside Reuben Hazell and is a leader on the pitch."

"If we had two, three or four more of those we'd be better off. Greegs is a good pro. who's been captain at most of the clubs he's played at. He trains the right way and looks after himself. Whilst admittedly he didn't get off to the best of starts he's done well since."
