John Sheridan has confessed that he wants the Latics fans to start thinking like him as his team enter the new season. He told Latics World, "I want the fans to think like me. I've finished sixth and eighth in my two seasons here and I want to do better. I'm going to put pressure on myself by saying I think we can do very well this season. We've done things differently in pre-season to try and prevent injuries and - touch wood - I'm pleased with how things have gone on that side. The players know the importance of tomorrow's game - this is where they start being judged."

"We're ready for it and we've trained very well during pre-season, but there's always room to improve and that's what we'll be trying to do on Saturday. I know my team and I know how we're going to play, so hopefully we can go out there, do it right and get ourselves off to a good start. It's important to get off to a good start and get some confidence in and around the whole club and the fans, because we've got some great games in the next few weeks."

"But the most important thing at the moment is getting three points on Saturday. We will be taking Millwall very seriously and they are a tough side to break down, but as the home side we should be looking to win the game. Our home form was up and down last year and, if we can get it right, we can go a long way in this division."
