Smalley impresses

Deane Smalley has impressed John Sheridan after being handed his first team chance following an injury to Andy Liddell. Shez has praised the 19 year old and expects him to continue his improvement and eventually make a big name for himself in the game.

Sheridan told Latics World, "Deane's a very quiet lad, but I feel he's got everything you want in a player. He showed it out there, He just glides past people when he wants to and he can be frightening. He'll grow up, and playing in the first team will do him the world of good. If he can get a bit more belief in himself he's got a great chance of playing at a higher level. Deane still has a lot to learn, but he's a quiet, nice kid who keeps his feet on the ground. He's in the team and now he's got to stay there. We're winning games, and he's improving with every game."
