Striker Matt Smith has gone on loan to League Two side Macclesfield Town until the end of the season. Smith made his debut yesterday and was unlucky not to score.
The 22-year-old, who was signed from non-league Solihull Moors last summer, has been struggling to find a starting place in the Latics first team and the move will give him the chance to play regular first-team football. Of his 35 appearances, 31 have been as substitute and he has found the net three times.
