Stadium redevelopment generally accepted

The Boundary Park stadium redevelopment seems to be finally being accepted by the local residents. Around 130 local people attended a recent consultation and Alan Hardy (pictured) said, "Generally, I think our plans were well received. One or two people were worried about parking, but I suggested they petition for a residents' permit to alleviate the problem. There will always be concerns when there's a major development, but I don't think there's anything to worry about from the majority of complaints we received."

Director Ian Hill supported the move and said, "We targeted our neighbours because we felt it was important for them to have the first input. I think they appreciated that and, although there were one or two concerns, there was no groundswell of negativity. Our plans have changed since this time last year, but without being on the same scale it's still a major development. All the way through we've had an awful lot of meetings with the council and the planners, so they know what's coming and it won't surprise them. They are being supportive."
