Stam could be back at Gillingham

Stefan Stam (pictured) could be back in the Athletic team for the visit to the Priestfield Stadium on Saturday. With the team struggling and the defence letting in goals like a colander leaks water, Stam could be back after only three days of training and might even go straight into the starting line up. After three straight defeats Ronnie Moore is desperate to strengthen his defence. Gillingham lost 3-0 at home to Barnsley in midweek so Saturdays encounter should be unpredictable, if nothing else.

It's good news for Guy Branston too, who might also make the squad, be it in defence or up front. With Paul Warne beginning a three-match ban, Luke Beckett looks the favourite to replace him by returning directly to the first team starting line.
