Athletic have received good news on injured defender Stefan Stam who was ruled out for up to three weeks after picking up a knee injury against Swindon on Tuesday night. He could make a shock return for Athletic in tomorrow's game at Port Vale. The injury is not as severe as was first anticipated and the Dutchman could retain his place in the team when the Latics take on Port Vale at Burslem today.
