With all the stuff that is going on at the club it is a refreshing thing to report that Athletic have taken a 25 year old striker on a week long trial. Glen Robson is currently out of contract with Unibond side Blyth Spartans and he was recommended to the Latics by the club's North East scout. Coach Tony Philliskirk describes Robson as an “aggressive, hardworking forward who wants a chance at league football.” Robson has scored over 20 goals in each of the last two seasons. He has paid his own expenses in order to take up the trial and also loses a weeks wages as he had to take time off work. Let’s hope there is a club at Oldham for him to join if it works out!
