35 year old Chris Swailes is hoping that a CT scan on his fractured heel will result in him being eligible to take a stab at a starting place in next season's team. The player has struggled with injuries and was only able to make 15 starts last season.

The Latics physiotherapist Lee Nobes said, "We won't know the way to go until we get the results, but if it has healed then he should be okay. We will just have to wait and see. You have to remember that Chris hasn't done anything, not even running, for six weeks although the foot now has full weight-bearing. It might be a little too early to say if he will be ready in time for pre-season."
