Swailes hopes to kick off season

Chris Swailes is hoping that his injury jinxed spell at Boundary Park is over and he is hopeful of kicking off with his team mates when the season gets under way. The defender has suffered a persistent heel problem and only managed only 15 games last season. It's a case of make or break now and he is feeling confident.

Swailes said, “Although I'm not training with the other lads just yet, I've been keeping myself fit in the gym and the pool. Hopefully I'll get the all-clear next week and be able to start running, which would be a massive relief. Then I would have the best part of a month to step up my fitness, so our first game of the season would be a realistic target. I'm taking nothing for granted after what has happened over the last year, but I'm very hopeful. It's mind-numbing when you can't train or play but the most important thing was to find out exactly what the problem was. There's always something in the back of your mind about possibly being finished, but things are definitely looking up.”
