Dino Maamria was philosophical about the 2-0 defeat at Richie Wellens' table topping Swindon Town. He said, “They are top of the league because they've got that front three and they are so clinical. Their first goal, the finish was unbelievable, we had much easier chances than that and we failed to score and obviously that was the difference today. Between the two boxes I believe that was our best game of the season. We were very disappointed in the first-half that we didn't score. We know we're lacking goals, we know we need someone to put the ball in the back of the net. But as a team I thought we worked and pressed them hard, we stopped them playing, we dominated the ball and the goal came at the wrong time probably with a minute to go before half-time. But, having said that, we didn't change anything in the second-half and we went again on the front foot and I'm not sure how Alex Iacovitti missed the chance to make it 1-1. The biggest disappointment was how we gave them that second goal because there was still plenty of time to play. I was disappointed in Wheater, how he gifted them that second goal to make it a 2-0 game but it was never the full story.”
“Stott was outstanding. I was gutted for him, he pulled his hamstring when he had that shot that their keeper had to make a great save from in the top corner, but he'll be out for 2-3 weeks now. We looked at it and Tomas [Egert] has been out injured for a while, since Gateshead, and has not played and was back in training only last week. He looked a bit rusty as well and I thought it was too much especially with their counter attack threat. That's why we decided to change it quickly in the second-half and, to be fair, Filipe Morais came in and was fantastic and we went with Zak Mills, Tom Hamer and David Wheater as a back three and they equipped themselves really well. We kept going on the front foot but, like I said, that second goal towards the end killed us a little bit. Akpro was sick and couldn't travel with us. Maouche was back involved but I want more from him. He's our creative player and when we don't score goals we're looking at those players and we expect more. He had a good 90 minutes and worked very hard for the team and was part of a solid performance. The motivation for us was easy. When you play the top of the table team you have to be at it. We were at it. I think we've got to make sure the following game if we produce this type of performance I'm sure we'll win a lot of games. We've got to make sure we don't go flat this week as sometimes when you put so much effort into a performance and you get nothing from it, it can happen. We've got to take a lot of positives from it and the way we pressed them first-half and the way we played our football is exactly how we want to play. It's a shame we didn't score and if we did it would've been a different game, but we'll live and learn with that and make sure we get some more work done on the training ground to make sure we are scoring goals.”
