Taylor double seals great three points

A superb double blast from Chris Taylor (pictured) gave the Latics a marvellous three points on their trip to Elland Road. Leeds were always chasing the game and John Sheridan's men did a wonderful job at keeping the promotion favourites at bay. It was a good all round performance from the boys in blue with every man playing his part. The defence was immense and the midfield and forwards battled for possession at every opportunity. Sheridan is learning all the time and if these types of performances can be maintained the Latics will be playing Championship football next term.

Shez told Latics World, "It was an excellent team performance throughout and we thoroughly deserved to win. Leeds came at us for the first 15 minutes but I thought we controlled the game for long spells after that and caused them problems, especially on the break. There were lots of good individual performances but I look at the team as a whole and they were excellent to a man today."

"I'm pleased Chris got on the scoresheet - his first goal was actually more pleasing than the second. Chris was in the right area and took a chance, and it's paid off for him. He responded well after Lee's touch and was in the right place at the right time. I knowhow much the fans had to pay to get in today but I think they'd have paid fifty quid to watch that game and celebrate. The joy on their faces at the end said it all - a good day's work all round."

"The main thing is we've got off to a good start, unlike the last two seasons. Now we need to carry on this run and the more points we can get on the board as soon as possible the better. We've got three points here today but that's gone now. I've told the lads to enjoy the weekend and come in fresh on Monday to start the hard work ahead of the Cheltenham game."
