Taylor finally scores

Chris Taylor has waited a long time, and so have the fans, to claim his first ever Athletic goal. He got the decisive touch to an Andy Liddell cross after 13 minutes at Brunton Park and he went wild. So wild infact, that the referee booked him for his over-zealous celebrations.

A delighted Taylor told the official site, "I've been dreaming of this all my life, and I just wish we had the three points to go with it. We were putting some good build-up together on the right, and Andy Liddell did well to get a great cross in. I just gambled and wanted to get some connection on the ball, and fortunately I got a touch and it went in off my foot. It was the most unbelievable feeling when it went in, I really can't describe it in words, and then I just ran to the fans. I think I was more or less in the back row of the stand! Then the ref told me I had over-celebrated which was disappointing, but to score was fantastic."

"This has been the best week of my career so far and I'm pleased to get the goal thing out of the way psyschologically. Hopefully now I can go on and get a few more before the end of the season. The lads are all disappointed in the dressing room. We're never happy with just a point and I thought we were the better team overall. We allowed Carlisle too many crosses and free-kicks though, and they're always going to have a couple of chances if we do that. Now we've just got to concentrate on getting three points next week."
