Team Captain Dean Holden give his two pennorth

The departure of Brian Talbot from the club has seen a mixed reaction from people associated with Oldham Athletic. Captain Dean Holden had to get his two pennorth when he told the official site, “It's disappointing. There's lots of anger, certainly on my part anyway. Managers live and die by results and we've not been performing in the last few weeks. Results have obviously gone against us, which has led to him leaving so we've just got to try and re-group as players. Tony's taken over and we've just got to try and get a result at Huddersfield and stop the rot now. I can only speak for myself but personally I do feel responsible (for him leaving). Managers rely on players to get results for them. They do everything until 3:00 clock on a Saturday and then it's up to them to go and perform.”

“When the cup runs were going everything was great and the fans were happy again. After some disappointing results earlier in the season they turned on him a little bit but it's turned on him recently with the results we've been getting. We should feel responsible. The only thing we should be focusing on is to make sure that the club stays in this division. We've got to dig in and get results. Normally when a Manager leaves there's a reaction for some reason from players. I don't know why that is, I don't know if people try even harder or what- you should always give 100% anyway. But hopefully there will be a reaction on Saturday. It'll be a tough game for us, a local derby and hopefully we can get a good result and people will be smiling again this time next week.”
