Ternent happy with point

Huddersfield Town boss Stan Ternent was a happy man following his teams 1-1 draw at Boundary Park. He told the official Terriers website, "They've played very well today and they showed a good attitude; they were bang up for the game. Oldham are the best team in the division and we can take a lot of heart from that. The players were terrific today. I've told the lads in the dressing room that has to be the yardstick for the rest of the season. We set the standard early on and we created quite a few chances, which we do in every game; we just need to be more clinical in that. Overall, I'm pleased with them today - I think the whole team has done very well."

"It was a good goal from Ian Craney, who could have scored in the first thirty seconds. He had another opportunity later on and Flynny had an opportunity later on, which he didn't quite connect with as he strikes the ball particularly well. Overall I'm reasonably happy, but I feel that there's a lot of improving in us. We have the quality, but we need to be more clinical in front of goal. We'll get there eventually. I think we can pass it better and that will come with confidence and results, but overall I thought there were some very good individual performances throughout the team and as a team, we stuck together very well."

"I haven't got enough money to comment [on the penalty claims] unfortunately! The referee didn't think they were penalties, so that's the end of it. I have my own views and we're talking about important decisions. We can't have dissent. We have this respect programme now, so if it's a booking for dissent we will deal with it internally. However, it is human nature sometimes but as an individual, regardless of how you feel, you have to rise above it because there's only one outcome at the end of the day. It can lead to persistent bookings which would mean you are unable to play, so it's not a good idea but it's difficult sometimes. I like people to be competitive - you give some and you take some, you get up and dust yourself down and get on with it. That's what it's all about."

"I don't think they had any clear-cut goalscoring opportunities and the goal they scored was a mistake on our part. The wall should stand firm but one felt he had to charge and another jumped, so the ball went low through the wall. That leaves the goalkeeper nowhere to go as he struck it well. The wall is there for a reason and the goalkeeper has to cover the other side of the goal. When I've had the players together for more time, you'll see a massive improvement in that. It was borne out of enthusiasm, which is a good thing. All in all, it's a point. I felt that we had enough opportunities to score more goals but that's been the case throughout the season. When I talk to the players after the match, we discuss the down side of things because if we can eliminate that it will be better for the team and everybody concerned. We have another massive game next week against Leicester, who are up there and are one of the fancied teams, but I'm hopeful that we're moving in the right direction."
