Thanks for the memories!

Athletic paid tribute to Andy Goram today after the goalkeeper's short spell at Boundary Park effectively ended. Goram lost his place to David Miskelly on Saturday and will only play again if his youngster gets injured. Miskelly was returning from a lay-off and Gary Kelly needed surgery. Goram was a free agent after leaving Coventry and jumped at the chance of rejoining his old club.

Mick Wadsworth said, “I spoke to Andy about the situation and, although he was disappointed not to be playing, he understood. He is still under contract but appreciates that we need to give a good young 'keeper his chance now that he's fully fit. I want to thank Andy because he got us out of a tight spot when he signed, then did well for us during his games. He has also been great for the club's younger 'keepers. David has found it fantastically supportive to work with someone like Andy Goram.”

Goram (37) has now played for Athletic, Hibernian, Glasgow Rangers, Notts County, Sheffield United, Motherwell, Manchester United and Coventry.
