The great escape...

Time is running out with the great escape, something that the Latics’ fans have to endure every season of late. With the prospect of the return of striker Eoin Doyle it is now accepted that he won’t be available to assist in the escape until his injuries have cleared up. Only 16 games remain and the Latics are third from the bottom with more games played than most of their competitors. Richie Wellens was quick to point out that Doyle will be sidelined due to him suffering a blood clot in his left shoulder.

Wellens said, “The main priority for Doyle is his health. People were raving about signing him, he’s not available for six weeks, it’s not like it’s six days it’s six weeks. We could be more or less relegated before Eoin Doyle comes back, we can’t get stuck on ‘oh Doyle’s back in six weeks’ we need to focus on now and that’s why I wanted another striker in for the here and now.”
