The manager's thoughts

Iain Dowie’s thoughts after the 4-0 hammering of Chesterfield were as follows:

“I thought we were very good first half. I thought we were outstanding in the first half and I made a key point of it being how we started the game. I thought our invention, our drive and our ability round them when they had the ball and also our ability to pass nice and brightly caused them a lot of problems. The front two early on I thought were outstanding and there were some great balls right to left from Will Haining. Darren sort of dictated the game and helped us prod and probe. They struggled to really cope with us in the first half.”

“I wasn't particularly pleased with the first 20 minutes of the second half. I thought we were sloppy. We told them it was a bobbly pitch and it was blowing a gale. We told them not to tip tap it around in our own half. As much as I love
to play it's just not on. We then started playing a little bit better and a little bit more down the sides which you get the results.”
