Before the Gillingham game, Latics boss Ronnie Moore confessed that this season would be the easiest League One to get out of. He said, "It is a poor division and I think if we ever have an opportunity of getting out of it then this season is the one. You look at the teams in there and everyone is capable of beating anybody. It is just frustrating. You look at the likes of Nottingham Forest with the players they have and the money they have spent. They should be walking away with this division."
"So, I think if Oldham want to get out this is the ideal time. Probably seven or eight weeks ago we felt had no chance of automatic promotion, then all of a sudden we thought we could. But we shot ourselves in the foot and now we are talking about another three points to get us into the play-offs. Let's get in their first and see what happens."
