John Thompson has joined Notts County on a one month emergency loan. The Eire international joined Athletic from Nottingham Forest in 2007 but has found that the competition for positions in defence is very severe and he has recently dropped behind Sean Gregan, Reuben Hazell, Stefan Stam and Richie Byrne in the pecking order.The 26 year old hopes to get some much needed first team matches under his belt at Meadow Lane and he is included in the squad for todays home game against Macclesfield.
