Manager John Sheridan has placed defender John Thompson on the transfer list but will consider a loan deal should he not get a permanent deal at aanother club. 26 year old Thompson has been capped three times by Eire but has struggled to establish himself as a regular first teamer at Boundary Park. Athletic signed him on a free transfer from Nottingham Forest in summer 2007 after beating off competition from Tranmere Rovers where he had a successful loan spell.
The transfer window closes on Monday.
