Tilson left frustrated

Steve Tilson was left frustrated after Athletic's remarkable win at Southend, their fifth consecutive away win. Tilson thought that the sending off of McCormack was harsh in and told the official Shrimpers website, "We had enough chances to have won the game. Oldham have scored from one of only two or three chances they have created throughout the game. We had five or six good chances and you've got to take them. If we had done, then we win the game comfortably, but it didn't quite happen for us. In the first half, Leon has rounded their goalkeeper and you expect him to score, while Adam has had a header cleared off the line."

"Their goalkeeper has made some good saves and in the second half, Leon is through again and you expect him to score. We had lots of chances and should have won the game, but it didn't fall for us. We now need to pick ourselves up for Boxing Day at Gillingham. On the whole, we dominated the game. Fair play to Oldham, they rode their luck quite a lot. To be honest, I'd love to get a referee that actually gives us something at home. The referee today wasn't consistent throughout. For me, they have been fouling for most of the game with no bookings and McCormack has made two challenges and for the second one, he hasn't touched their guy. The first challenge isn't a booking either and it's killed us. They are major decisions that cost you games."
