Mathew Tipton has been ruled out of Athletic’s home match against Brighton on Saturday because of an ankle injury. The Welsh under-21 international striker picked up a knock in Tuesday’s Manchester Senior Cup tie against Bury.Tipton’s absence - he was on the bench at Notts County - will be compensated for by the return on Allan Smart. Smart was forced to pull out of last Saturday’s match because of a new arrival to his family, daughter Kara.
