"Tranmere is a fantastic club" - Ronnie Moore

Ronnie Moore was quick to release his views about his time at Boundary Park. He is on the short list for the vacant manager's position at Tranmere Rovers and he got in early with his feelings about his former club.

Moore said, "Tranmere is a fantastic club and it is a great opportunity for whoever takes the job. The Club should be playing in the Championship. I had good years at the Club as a player, as a coach and as an Assistant Manager. I have fond memories of Tranmere, the crowd were always good to me. We had wonderful times getting to the Leyland DAF Final at Wembley, winning promotion against Bolton and getting to the Semi-Finals of the League Cup only to lose on penalties. It is a top job with the right people backing it. It is the ideal time for someone to go in, shake the Club by the throat and get on with it. Support was down last season because of the way the season panned out but I think you can pull those spectators back if you're winning games. The Youth policy at Tranmere has been teriffic. When I was there people like Tony Thomas and Ged Brannan came through. There have been good players who have gone on and made good careers. Now you have players like Harrison, Jennings and Davies who will be given opportunities by whoever takes over."

"I believe there are one or two things being said from the Oldham side which are ridiculous. I kept them up the season before last and last season was the third highest they have finished in the last 13 years. Take the Dowie days out of it where they finished ninth in his first season and in the play offs the next year, and I've had the best record there. I think I have done a good job to get that club back on the right footing. The kids were top of their league and the reserves finished second in their league so the foundations are set. I've got nothing to be ashamed of in my record at Oldham but life is life and you have to get on with it."
