Transfer window closes

It was a quiet last day of the transfer window at Boundary Park and the only incoming player is the renewal of the loan deal with full back Daniel Jones from Wolverhampton Wanderers who will now be staying with the club until the end of the season.

Jones has impressed with some good performances during his previous three month loan. He made some great surges forward and linked up particularly well with Chris Taylor. He had to return to Wolves after picking up a knee injury but the 22 year old is now back to full fitness and the move will please the majority of the Latics fans who have seen him play in his 14 appearances for the Latics. He scored one goal during that first spell. The signing could spell the end for Reading fullback Scott Goldbourne who recently signed a one month loan deal.

The good news from the Athletic camp is that the only other business was the expected completion of the Craig Davies deal which saw him signing for Brighton. The rumours surrounding the possible outgoing of Lee Hughes and Chris Taylor never materialised which is an excellent bonus for the club and fans.
