Turner gets three match ban

Ben Turner has been given a three match ban after his sending-off on his debut against Bournemouth on Saturday. The 18 year old on loan defender from Coventry will now miss the games against Blackpool, Carlisle and Doncaster. He signed on a one month loan last Thursday and it is possible that he may not play for Athletic again.

Turner has been placed on standby for Englands Under 19's game against Turkey at Doncaster next month and manager John Sheridan was not happy with the outcome of the sending off.

He commented, "I'm disappointed but it was a bad tackle on Ben. I saw a similar incident between Rio Ferdinand and Tomasz Radzinski in the game between Manchester United and Fulham and Ferdinand wasn't sent off. I don't want to get into talking about referees as everyone knows what I think. Ben's only young and hopefully he'll learn from this. He was very upset after the game, and rightly so."
