Tyson bid rejected

Wycombe Wanderers have turned down a £100,000 bid for striker Nathan Tyson as their valuation of the player is three times that amount. Tyson (23) joined Wycombe on a free transfer from Reading and hit 22 goals last season.

Disappointed manager Ronnie Moore said, “We did make a bid for Tyson, but it turns out he’s beyond our means. I knew it wouldn’t be easy to get someone in but, at the same time, I didn’t think it would be this hard. It’s driving me mad, and maybe we’ll have to lower our sights unless something happens quite soon. Most of the people we’ve looked at would either cost too much or don’t want to play in our division. They will also be looking at Oldham’s last couple of seasons and seeing a club which has struggled."

"I might end up going for someone who is coming to the end of their career but could give us 12 or 18 months of quality. I’m sure those players are out there, although you need to be careful about them and make sure they have kept their hunger.”
