Latics striker Scott Vernon has moved on loan to local rivals Blackpool. Vernon was leading scorer last season with 14 goals but has found it difficult to get into the starting eleven this term, having played just two games. With the arrival of Kevin Betsy and with Chris Killen getting back to form the pecking order sees Vernon drop down. Matty Barlow is also impressing in the youth team and Talbot appears to prefer him to Vernon which does not send out a good message for Scott. Vernon did enough to impress ‘Pool boss Colin Hendry when he scored the winner for the reserves against Shrewsbury in mid-week. Scott has signed a one month loan and with the Blackpool attack suffering as hard as the rest of the team he should feature in their trip to Hull this weekend although Athletic will not allow him to play in any cup ties for the Seasiders.
