Vernon will miss FA Cup game

Scott Vernon will be out of action for about three weeks and will definitely miss the big FA Cup clash at home to Bolton Wanderers on Sunday after picking up a thigh strain in the LDV victory over Tranmere Rovers. Who can forget that Vernon hit the winning goal to knock Manchester City out of the cup?

With Killen also out through injury manager Brian Talbot will have to put his thinking cap on as he is desperately short of cover for up front. His only recognised strikers are Kevin Betsy, Chris Hall and play anywhere John Eyre. With the signing deadline on Friday, don’t rule out the possibility of the manager bringing in reinforcements.
