Athletic are set to reward David Eyres with a new extension to his contract, which expires at the end of the season. His 38th. birthday is coming up and he hopes to stay at Boundary Park for another 12 months. Eyres has scored 12 goals this season and Mick Wadsworth is full of admiration for his oldest player. Wadsworth said, “Eyresy defies the years. He has been a terrific player for me and there's plenty more life in him yet.”

Wadsworth has been singing the praises of French centre-back Julien Baudet by stating, “Julien has things to learn about the nuances and refinements of defending, but he can only get better and better. Paul is a very talented lad and it's a shame his loan spell runs out in a couple of weeks.”

Cristian Colusso (pictured) is pencilled in for a reserve-team game when Athletic meet Burnley at Boundary Park tonight. The Argentinian midfielder, who would cost around £2million made his debut in the win over Brighton. Wadsworth said, “If I'd been brave, Cristian would have got on the pitch earlier because he always demands the ball. But it was all a bit frantic and helter-skelter, so I decided to keep him back.”
