Paul Warne struck a 32nd. minute goal to give the Latics a vital win at promotion hopefuls Swansea City. With Scunthorpe idle due to the weather, the win took the Latics back to the top of the league.

John Sheridan was delighted with the result and commented to the official site, "We played extremely well against a good team away from home, and again took the game to the opposition, especially in the first half. It took us ten hours to get down here and I think this result shows great character from the lads. I told them before the game not to think about the journey as it'd affect their performance, and I don't think it bothered any of them out there."

"Craig Rocastle (pictured) was outstanding. He's been disappointed a lot this season as he hasn't played very much but he's come in today and done well, as he has in the three games he's played recently, and I'm very, very pleased for him as he played very well. The game would have been made easier if we'd have gone two up, but at the end of the day to come to a place like this and win 1-0 gives us a bit more breathing space ahead of teams like Swansea. This is a massive win for us. A great result."
