Richie Wellens (pictured) has launched an unexpected attack on former Blackpool manager Colin Hendry. The Latics travel to Blackpool on 28th. December and the Latics midfielder pulled no punches prior to his return to Bloomfield Road. He said, ''The team fell away and the football was awful. He might have left now, but Blackpool are paying for that decision. Steve McMahon, who was there before him, was on the verge of stepping up from a position where every year we thought mid-table would be good."

"Hendry was a mistake and my last six months at Blackpool really dragged. This season is going to be another difficult one for them, but I've got nothing against the club and I'm looking forward to going back. I had some good years there, but this Oldham team is better than anything I was involved with at Blackpool. They made a mistake by appointing Hendry as manager.'' Nothing like firing up the fans to generate atmosphere is there?
