Richie Wellens has signed on a two year deal for Doncaster Rovers after rejecting the John Sheridan's offer to remain at Boundary Park. Sheridan was hoping to keep 27 year old Wellens, who had a big say in last seasons successful events.

The ex-Manchester United trainee came to Athletic on a free transfer from Blackpool in 2005 and made 101 appearances, notching eight goals in the process. He will join his new Doncaster team-mates for training tomorrow.
