Former midfielder Richie Wellens has returned to the Latics on an emergency loan deal until the New Year. He left Boundary Park to join Doncaster Rovers in 2007 and returns enthusiastically. He made 101 appearances for the Latics in his two years under John Sheridan.
Current manager David Dunn said, “I’ve known Ritchie for a number of years and the quality he will bring to us will be invaluable. First of all he is a leader, he’s got a great character and will be a lift to the team and the supporters so I look forward to working with him.”
