Wembley is in sight

Paul Dickov is relishing the break his team have in preparation for Monday's massive game in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy semi-final against Chesterfield as the winning team will play in the final at Wembley.

Dickov said, “It has been nice to have a free week given we have three or four players who are injured. Having no games gives us the best possible chance to get them fit. We have had 12 games since the start of December and it gives the boys the rest they need so they are fresh and fine to go on Monday night. We cannot take any chances [on injured players Dean Furman, James Wesolowski, Robbie Simpson and Zander Diamond]. We will seek medical advice and, if I am told all four can play, they will as they are all big players for us.”

“We know what we have to do, but how will Chesterfield approach it? Do they protect their lead or will they try for another goal? The one thing is that we will be going for it, as we do in every game. And if we create the number of chances we did at their place - we had 22 with 12 on target - I am pretty sure there will be goals. When we are attacking, unless it is the last 10-15 minutes and we have to go for it, we must make sure we don't have 10 outfield players attacking. We also have to make sure we don't concede as we have goals in the team, even though they have dried up a little in recent weeks. We weren't at our best against Chesterfield last week but to create 22 chances in any game shows that the team likes to play good, attacking football.”
