Bolton Wanderers have made made moves to sign David Wheater, even though head coach Dino Maamria regards him as one of his key players.
No official offer has been made for the Latics' captain who still has six months to run on his contract with the option of another 12 months extension. Wheater has scored three goals in 23 appearances.
