Danny Whitaker's recent displays have resulted in him receiving the Latics's first Player of the Month Award for the 2008/09 season. The award is sponsored by Spindles Shopping Centre and the goal that Whitaker scored in the 4-0 win over Cheltenham Town went a long way in influencing the decision as it was his first goal for the club. He followed that up with another strike in the recent Johnstone's Paint Trophy tie against Morecambe.Whitaker was presented with a cheque for £100 and will be presented to the Oldham branch of north-west charity MedEquip4Kids along with the other monthly awards.
