Wijnhard to Oldham (part 2)

Last updated : 01 September 2004 By Cory Hazlehurst
Brian Talbot has confirmed that Oldham's non-contract offer to Clyde Wijnhard is " still on the table" after the striker was unable to obtain contracts at two other clubs. Wijnhard has spoken to Sunderland and a Swedish side, but the negotiations broke down.

The reason Oldham failed to sign Wijnhard before was because although Oldham wanted Clyde to prove his fitness on a non-contract basis, the Dutchman wanted the securtity of a longer contract. However, he consider a return to Oldham having been unable to find work elsewhere. Talbot's offer to Wijnhard was of an initial one-month contract, with the possibility of a month to month contract if he impressed.

Manager Talbot has mentioned that Clyde would need to increase his fitness levels and lose some weight, but nevertheless was impressed by him in training. Let's hope Clyde wil return and produce the goal-scoring form he showed in the 2002/3 season.
