Peter Wild has taken on the role of Interim Academy Manager, the post vacated when Tony Philliskirk left the club under unexplained circumstances. Wild was Youth Development Lead Phase Coach in the Oldham Athletic Academy and is pleased with his new role. The Latics U18s started their Youth Alliance Cup campaign with a convincing 5-2 victory over Hartlepool United last weekend.
Wild said, “It has been an interesting period with lots of ups and downs but we’d like to think that everything is starting to calm down and we are getting our structure in place so the academy can push forward again. We have worked hard with the boys recently on where we thought they were lacking and Saturday was their first chance to put it right and they did. It was a decent game. It’s done the whole academy really well. Hopefully we can now give a good honest account of ourselves and start to progress as U18s and coaches and makes sure that everybody pushes in the right direction.”
